Tomato - Amish Paste

Tomato - Amish Paste
A bright red oxheart shaped heirloom sauce tomato that originated sometime during the 1870’s in Amish country but wasn’t commercially available until the late 1980’s. Each truss of the plant will grow 3-4 large 8-12oz tomatoes and with less than average foliage it allows the sun to ripen the fruit up quickly. They cut easily and have less than average seed pockets but with a slightly sweet and acidic taste. Make a zesty pizza sauce or a tomato paste with this variety but don’t hesitate to make a hearty pasta sauce with lots of fresh herbs from these as well.
