A beautiful deep purple bush bean that displays purple flowers and a distinct slightly purple foliage, the Royalty Purple bean was first bred by professor E. Meader at the University of New Hampshire. Later introduced in 1957 via the Hepler Seed company it has retained its popularity for its looks and its highly productive nature in a wide range of climates and soil types. A delicious stringless fresh bean, before seeds form, in salads or pickled and the shelled beans, once formed, are a great meaty addition in soups. Once beans reach about 4-5” inches pick them, and the plant will produce even more throughout the growing season.
