The Ice Cream Melon is a high-yielding heirloom variety bred by Merlyn Niedens from a cross between "Jenny Lind" and "Kansas". It produces compact, 2-pound fruits with a distinctive netted rind and exceptionally sweet, bright green flesh that matures in about 80 days. Because it grows on relatively short vines, this organic variety is particularly well-suited for gardeners working with smaller spaces.
